Skins face rough home slate in 2010

By Bud L. Ellis

Some of the best teams in the National Football League will visit the nation’s capital this season.

Coming off a 4-12 season in 2009, the Washington Redskins will face some of the league’s strongest foes at home this season.

The NFL has announced what teams the Redskins will face at home and on the road this season. Dates and times will be determined later.

Five of the Redskins’ eight home games are against teams that made the playoff last season. NFC East rivals Dallas (the defending division champion) and Philadelphia, which reached the playoffs as wild card last season, highlight the some schedule. Other postseason qualifiers from last season who will visit Washington are AFC champion and Super Bowl runner-up Indianapolis, NFC runner-up Minnesota and wild-card qualifier Green Bay. Rounding out the home schedule are contests against the New York Giants, Tampa Bay and Houston.

As far as the road schedule goes, the Redskins travel to Dallas and Philly, the only two playoff teams on the road slate. Trips to the Giants, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Jacksonville and Tennessee also are on the slate.

Washington’s schedule ranks eighth in the NFL, based on last season’s opponents’ win percentage.
